Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

The most remarkable feature of this fragment is the mention of offerings for the statue of a king in l. col. 4′. This, as well as the typology and quality of the offerings, show that the inventory refers to a provincial capital if not even to Ḫattuša itself.

l. col. 6′: The word GAšimalu denotes a milk product, perhaps butter milk or butter fat, see CHD Š 368.

l. col. 9′: On GA KALAG.GA “thick milk,” “sour milk,” see Hoffner 1993: 202 and Haas and Wegner 2001: 201.

r. col. 11′-12′: These line refer to the celebration of a festival at the expense of somebody’s “house,” probably the priest’s.
